WINNING HOPPER FEED VALVES
JS
Melbourne Controls Hopper Feed Valve is specially designed to
eliminate the dangerous practices often applied in freeing material
in large hoppers, bins, screw feeders, trucks and slides.
An important part of many manufacturing processes, hoppers act
as storage and feed containers. It is not unusual for items
such as flour, cement and other fine particles to stick to the
inside walls of hoppers, often creating what is referred to
as rat holing and bridging. When
material sticks and binds, it has to be freed. Often workers
attempt to free the material themselves by climbing into the
hoppers or swinging hammers at them from great heights, which
can lead to accidents, and even death, in the workplace.
The Melbourne Hopper Feed Valve helps to eliminate these problems
by improving the flow of wet or dry product, and controlling
flow rates for consistent weight delivery.
Managing
Director John Melbournes philosophy on accident prevention
is that health and safety is everyone's concern, not just management
or the unions, so J S Melbourne Controls set about to design
a safer way of freeing hoppers. The result was the award winning
Melbourne Hopper Feed Valve.
A
special socket is welded into the side of the bulk container
and the valve is simply screwed in. At predetermined intervals,
the valve lets out a pulse of air which fluidises the material
and loosens it. All installations are packaged to meet individual
customers requirements.
There
are numerous benefits of the Hopper Feed Valve - it is simple
to install and easy to use, and being made from stainless steel
means it is corrosion resistant, hygienic, and virtually maintenance
free. Now made in 34 different types, the valve is designed
to suit virtually any industry, for use with either wet or dry
materials.
JS
Melbourne Controls was inducted into the inaugural Victorian
Manufacturing Hall of Fame as recognition of its outstanding
contibution to manufacturing.
