THE MELBOURNE HYDRO SHEAR MIXER

The Melbourne Hydro Shear Mixer is a liquid actuated device for mixing liquids and powders into liquids. It can also be used as a hydro vacuum cleaner for removing fly ash from hoppers at power stations and as a vacuum, generator. The unit has the ability to achieve very high vacuums, up to -100kPa using water at 700kps. Due to the high hydraulic shear action it is an ideal washing product: e.g. water filter sand and minerals.
The Melbourne Hydro Shear Mixer can also be used to prime large pumps.

How It Works
Fluid under pressure is diverted externally through pipes and supplied through two tangential ports. Fluid is fed into the manifold where it exits into the mixer’s main chamber via a ring of holes drilled at compound angles to the bore at port “A”. This is the primary mixing port. This forms a clockwise vortex.
Port “B”. This forms an anticlockwise vortex.
The forward velocity of the liquid in the mixing section is less than the forward velocity in the discharge section of the Hydro Shear Mixer. All the product, liquids and solids are sucked through this spinning liquid and then into the second nozzle where we have high hydraulic shear where the two vortexes meet.

This uniques process provides exceptional mixing. It is thorough, and totally in pipe therefore if mixing lightweight material, you achieve complete powderless mixing as no particles can escape into the atmosphere to affect workers.
